Luke's room...finally!
We completed Luke's room this weekend, and Luke is only 10 months old. Better late than never! We painted it wyeth blue by benjamin moore but had it color matched at lowe's because BM is only open until 1 pm on Saturday's...which is just too inconvenient. I hope you like it because Luke could care less! We still have to add window treatments, so that will come at some point!
Sunday
Luke's room...again
I am going back to the "colorful" room design for Luke's room. I am moving the black and white pictures of Luke to his room and out of the dining room. They have not felt right in the dining room. I think the color will be cute there. I am trying to decide which shade of green to paint and am thinking about painting the ceiling blue. The fabrics are all a mix of what I already have that can be used some way. Ryan is getting tired of me changing my mind. At some point I will be able to make a final decision!

Weekend Update
I will take better, brighter pictures this weekend. This was the best I could do last night.
Below are some of the projects we completed this weekend. We were able to hang the fixture in the entry below that we bought at the Pottery Barn Outlet for $35. We have another fixture very similar to this one that will go somewhere in the house. We wish we lived closer to the Dawsonville, GA outlets! There is also a Restoration Hardware outlet there.
The fixture looks a little bright here, which it is. We need to add a dimmer switch.
We also added these lamps to the buffet...Target bases and Jamie Young shades that I have had for several years purchased from Anthropologie.
We hung the window treatments after cutting the panels in half and re hemming them. They were panels we had in the dining room in Starkville. Not too bad considering I only paid $50 for about 35 yards of silk fabric when I bought the bolt several years ago. I knew I would be able to reuse them.

Stairway to...the bonus room
I think I really want to do something awesome in the staircase heading upstairs. I love the pattern of the Kelly Wearstler wall covering here in Chloe Sevigny's home although I prefer the palette soft aqua.

Monday
Figuring it out
I think this is about the 15th plan I have had for Luke's room, but this one might stick. I am thinking about bringing the North Hampton Putty from the living room into his room. I am also considering painting "judges paneling" on the walls. The blue fabric would be used for panels and the zebra would be pillows of some sort. The spotted fabric is a chair I just had reupholstered that will live in his room for now. I think this scheme looks best with his furniture so far...

Weekend projects...making SOME progress
I had these chairs reupholstered because the cats destroyed the fabric that was previously on the chairs. The chairs live in the family room, which is a work in progress.
This chair was at my Great Aunt Kathryn's, and I always loved it. I wish I had taken a before picture, but I forgot to.
Luke has been admiring these pictures of himself all day today! The dining room is still in need of a chandelier and window treatments.

Fruits of the weekend do it yourself labor
Below is the credenza from the before picture I posted several days ago. Improvement, right? My mom did not want me to paint this piece, but I think it looks pretty good.
These pillows will most likely live on the floor since they were made to go on the couch. With a boy running around in the near future I do not expect them to ever look this good again. I found the fabric at a store in Peachtree City, Ga. It is a silk, linen mix. I also used that fabric to recover the dining room chairs from my Great Aunt Willa. I need to post those pictures too. The trim I found at Tallahassee Fabric for $1.99/yard! Steel.

Luke's room
I finally know what I am going to do in Luke's room. I was faced with a challenge. I really wanted his room to be neutral, creams, whites, browns, etc..., but his toys are so colorful. It is just not feasible to constantly keep his toys in his closet. I finally came to the conclusion that I should just work with what I have and stop fighting the color. Last night as Ryan, Luke and I were playing in his room I searched for inspiration. There are a couple of things (clothes, blankets, toys) that I love of Luke's. I started there. I pulled out these items and began to play. I flipped through my serena and lily book to further my inspiration. When I open the page below, I was in love, and it turns out the crib sheet fabric in the picture is on sale...well at least the full sheet set is on sale. I ordered it today, and I plan to make a bumper pad out of the flat sheet. I am planning to paint stripes on the wall in some way, shape or form. I'll continue to share ideas as I come up with them.

plans
Family room plans...We currently have a sofa that works in the family room although we would like to change it to leather down the road for low maintenance purposes with our baby. We have many chairs that really don't work right in the family room. Some will be moved upstairs to the game room and some will be reupholstered. Below are fabric swatches. From left to right I will describe what I am thinking about. Ivory linen with zig zaggy diamonds*panels, velvet (color grey cashmere ben moore)*pillows, gold linen*chairs, animal print*side chair (I love this fabric!), the trims are extra but will probably be used on pillows. I am on the hunt for a great rug that is affordable...suggestions?

a little progress
I love white, crisp rooms but it's not really the right look for our house. I think in order to pull of the all white look a room needs good bones, and right now our house is pretty basic. You will notice there is no molding around the window or ceiling. We would like to add those details later, but it is not a priority right now. For now we are trying to get the white walls painted. We started with the family, kitchen, dining and master bedroom. Below is the dining room before and after (to date...definitely more to come). The light fixture that is hanging will be changed out. The fixture on the floor will replace the one in the entry...pottery barn outlet $30! The wall color is crown point sand ben moore.

getting organized
We are making progress, so here is a little sneak peak of the kitchen and dining room. I ended up painting the dining room Crown Point Sand (Ben Moore). It's a tan that has a green tint. I love it. The front door is Grey Cashmere. I just ordered a rug from Dash and Albert. You will see the sample below. more to come...
No green
Okay, the green is out too! I was not a fan of the paint samples in the dining room. I am moving back to a neutral tan color. I will try to post pictures soon.
